Attention Fellow Witches!

honey-and-gunpowder:

I’M GOING TO TELL YOU ABOUT THIS MAGICAL ASS WITCH SHOP AND WHY IT’S IMPORTANT TO YOU!

This place is called Maggie’s Pharm and it’s unique to my hometown of Memphis TN. They have existed for over 35 years now, surviving through the recession and managing to stay afloat when all else around them disappeared. They are locally owned and nearly ALL of their products are handmade. They have a phenomenal selection of oils and shampoos, as well as all kinds of medicinal remedies and teas and soaks to help those in need.

The great thing about them is that not only do the have superior customer service (some of the nicest and most helpful people I have EVER met, and their knowledge base is just amazing – you can ask them literally any question about their products, or ask for advice on how to achieve a certain outcome and they’ll ALWAYS answer with a polite and humble air. Very Educated), but they also DO NOT BOAST using their products in place of proper medical care for serious conditions. They advocate a harmony and melding of the two, and I think that’s just great.

BUT LET ME GET TO THE MEAT OF WHY I MADE THIS POST.

THEIR HERBS.

Guys. GUUUUUYS. They literally have every herb you could ever think of. And their spice collection is impressive as well. And everything is FRESH and NEW. They are constantly turning over and taking care of their products. Like, every time I’ve been in there, there’s some lady taking down the jars and examining them, refilling whats low or dumping what may have sat for too long. This shit is legit. These people take great pride in their work and it shows in the product. Maggie’s has never let me down in all these years (even before my witchy days, when I was simply going in there for their special tea blends and their homemade skin care products.)

The best part? Everything is reasonably priced. Nothing over the top.

For example, today I bought Jasmine, Chamomile, Thyme, Basil, Peppermint, Sandalwood, Red Rosebud Petals, Mugwort, Sage, Dandelion Root, Cayenne Pepper, Rosemary, Lavender AND a new mortar and pestle all for like 34 bucks. You can’t beat that dude.

Now why am I telling you all this, my dear witchy friends, when most likely you live very far away from this place and can’t access these wonders?

WELL GOOD NEWS. THEY SHIP.

That’s right you heard me. THEY’LL SHIP ANYWHERE YOU WANT.

I’m not sure about outside the US, you’d have to call and ask them, but I DO KNOW they can for sure send anywhere in the US. But LOOK GUYS. This is a great place and you can totally utilize it in your craft.

In a world where technology and the internet reign supreme, it’s nice to see that some truly magical homely places like this still exist in the world. I know its easy to buy online (and it may be a bit cheaper too) but please PLEASE give these guys a look and a shout out.

We don’t want the magical witch shops of the world to disappear.

So please, if you can, give these lovely people a try. You won’t be disappointed I can promise you. And they deserve support more than you could ever know.

Thanks everyone ❤ -hugs you all-

If anyone’s wondering, these were just made in rice cookers. (It has to be the nicer kind with the pressure cooker style lid not the cheap ones with just a simple glass lid.) I use mine all the time to make small coffee cakes; it’s the same thing with these giant pancakes. You just hit the white rice cycle three or four times until the pancake is thoroughly cooked. There’s actually a Japanese cooking blog that detailed all kinds of variations like making cheesecakes and pancakes with fruit filling and stuff like that.

Note to self, get new rice cooker with the pressure cooker style lid.

Herbal and Floral Waters

echoinemptyspace:

Keep an eye out for bottles of herbal and floral infused waters at your local grocery stores.

Behold the power of Lazy Magic.

  • Buy some water with corresponding flowers/herbs to create desired effect. For example, I have used the Cloves Cardamom and Cinnamon to help with the symptoms of a cold. The floral waters, pictured below, can be used for magical purposed as well.
  • You can infuse with energy the water with energy to give the water an extra magical boost. Place a bottle in the sun or moon. Fill it with your own energy. Chill it. Warm it. Or anything else you can think of!
  • Use it as an ingredient in any spells you want.
  • Discreet magic. Who’s going to question a bottle of water?
  • Delicious, healthy hydration.
  • Super easy.

As offerings to Deities or Entities.

  • I often give the Deities I worship these floral waters as libations. They are luxurious and extremely fragrant. They are also a great alternative to alcohol.
  • You can offer these based on flower/herb/fruit correspondences with your Deities, if you would like. For example, I often give Hekate the Plum Jasmine water in offerings because jasmine is a night-flowering plant. However, I have found that every Deity I have offered these floral or herbal waters to has accepted it. In most cases, they love them! In my experience, Hera adores the Lemon Rose water.  Zeus enjoyed the Lavender Mint water.

How to find them.

  • These waters are all from my local grocery store (Wegmans). You would have the best luck locating these types of waters at a store than has a respectable organic or specialty food section. They run about $1 to $1.50 dollars a bottle.
  • Also, keep in mind you can infuse your own waters!

Double Entry Magic

windvexer:

This
is a little joke about ‘double entry accounting’. In accounting,
every transaction is recorded at least twice. I’m an accounting
major, so sue me.

Just
like double entry accounting, I believe every spell affects at least
two things. Let me explain:

  • Get
more money spell: Affects your wealth and
    your poverty.
  • Get
more love spell: Affects your love life and
    your loneliness.
  • Get
class canceled spell: Affects your class time and
    your free time.

Every
spell which is a conjuration also banishes something; every spell
which is a banishment also conjures something. When you banish class,
you conjure free time. When you conjure love, you banish loneliness.
When you conjure wealth, you simultaneously banish poverty.

I
think it is fitting that the proper part of the spell pays attention
to that second effect, whether it be conjuration or banishing.

Suppose
you have a candle that is meant to conjure money. Precede it with a
candle that banishes poverty, leaving room for that wealth to grow.
For a jar spell that conjures self-love, include a knot spell to bind
self-loathing.

For
every spell there is an equal and opposite reaction. As one thing
grows, another shrinks. Anticipate what the opposite reaction will
be, and include that in your workings.
