Jesus, literally anytime anyone said, “Ugh. Those people ought to know their place.”

“THESE PEOPLE???”  Grabs them, embraces them. “YOU MEAN MY PEOPLE???” Aggressively kneels and washes their feet while staring at the person sneering. “THEY ARE MINE.  MY DARLING BELOVED PEOPLE. I COMMAND THAT YOU LOVE THEM THE WAY YOU LOVE ME.”

Christians today, like, all the time:

“Ugh. Those people ought to know their place.”

im gonna keep moisturizing and exfoliating and luxuriating and reading books and books and books and finding new poets to love and writing clumsy words of my own and thinking terrible and wonderful thoughts at 1am. keep drinking merlot straight from the bottle and driving up mountains to see the bright sharp chill of the stars and roadtripping down south to spend balmy nights in motels with neon signs like oil slicks. im gonna grow myself wild and lovely and fearful and raw this year

alivannarose:

“There is no way to travel backwards on these roads. Travelling to your childhood home will not take you to your childhood. Walking backwards, or in someone else’s shoes, while clever tricks (and sometimes handy *wink*), are still forging a new way. All roads lead forward.  No step you take is ever a step ‘backward’. As long as you still breathe and walk and choose your direction, you have never fallen behind, never backtracked. Run if you like – run to challenge the wind, run to deliver a message, run to aid others, run to meet your destiny – but don’t try to run to ‘catch up’ or to try to return to a place you’ve been before. You weren’t behind, and that place has changed.

Some steps you take may be unwise. But they are still steps forward, and the experience brings a kind of wisdom with it.

Just keep walking.“
