I fucking hate it when I’m scrolling through a good blog thinking “hmm might follow this” and then I see that ridiculous post whitesplaining to black Americans that racism is “different” in Europe and that white people can be victims of racism here.

No. We’re not. White people from Poland and Romania and other countries can be victims of xenophobia. People of colour are victims of racism. And racism in the UK looks much like racism in America – we have police brutality against black people, a disproportionate amount of black people in prison, Islamophobic hate crime, lack of POC representation in our media, a disproportionate amount of POCs living in poverty and all the rest of it.

White people are not victims of racism. We can be victims of xenophobic hate crime, xenophobic discrimination and xenophobic legislation but we will never ever be victims of racism.

And you can sit there and shrug and say “meh same difference” but it fucking matters. It matters because white people are responsible for racism whether we like it or not. We all benefit from white privilege and we’re all complicit to varying degrees. When people blur the lines between racism and xenophobia, it leads to the fallacy that anyone can be a victim of racism, which means nobody is really responsible and nobody has any particular obligation to examine their thoughts and actions.

Xenophobia is dangerous and life threatening and oppressive. We don’t have to mislabel it as racism to understand that. Racism and xenophobia have separate histories and separate causes. It’s not difficult to learn the difference.

My mom said that today in church her pastor said in the sermon that Jesus told us to help the poor, and taking money away from public schools to give to charter schools only widens the gap between the rich and the poor.  She then added that Jesus spoke against adultery and lust and would not have approved of bragging about sexually assaulting women.  According to my mom, people got up and walked out.

The pastor also started the sermon by noting that she’d heard of another minister who read the entirety of the Sermon on the Mount at the pulpit, to be told by the so-called Christian parishioners after the service that it was offensive and they didn’t agree.

The Sermon on the Mount is straight up the words of Jesus.

I recently read an article that said, hypocritical Christians in America don’t actually worship Jesus. They worship America, and even then, it’s a very specific, self-centered idea of America.

No, you did not just read about a racist protest that took place in the 1950s. THIS HAPPENED RIGHT HERE IN 2017……   Dozens of white supremacists gathered around with literal fucking torches while chanting nazi ideologies as an intimidation tactic… you wanna know the scariest part? they’re not wearing hoods or any other form of “protection”, which means they don’t even care about being exposed anymore…. I’m telling ya’ll white supremacy is one of the biggest threats to america. we cannot allow history to repeat itself by allowing this terrorism to continue

oh yeah, and one more thing. no one was arrested during this so called “protest”. sure, the police showed up….. but all they did was tell them to leave. no tear gas was thrown, no beatings, no rubber bullets, no national guard, no charges brought up…….. just a good ole peaceful disperse of a racist ass crowd..

but god forbid BLM protests against police brutality while holding nothing but  signs

Okay so many of you know about Ramadan, the month in the islamic calander where every muslim who’s not travelling, pregnant, breastfeeding, diabetic or on their period or is ill or elderly has to fast from dawn until sunset and refrain from smoking, sex, swearing, etc. Instead of sending everyone I follow what I would like them to tag as #nsfr (not safe for ramadan), here is a list of things to tag:

  • food
  • nudes/ nsfw
  • kissing/ pda
  • smoking
  • bad language

I’d appreciate it if people reblog this so every muslim doesn’t have to ask the 400+ blogs they follow to tag stuff. Thanks!

Ramadan 2017 will tentatively begin in the evening of Friday, May 26th and ends in the evening of Saturday, June 24th!

Rebageling for my followers who are participating in the Holy month of Ramadan 🙂
