I will always defend Apollo’s more ‘undesirable’ aspects (His violence, vengeance, wrath, anger, strictness, grief, etc) because I can’t help but really adore those parts of Him. I love all parts of Him, but His darker self always has me in awe (as if His presence doesn’t do that already). I think about those aspects a lot, and discussing them is one of my favorite hobbies at this point.
Regarding your tags, @sun-prophecy-follower, I have to disagree with them. I have a hard time believing any divine being has ‘flaws’, and that wasn’t what the post was even about in the first place. This post is merely pointing out Apollo’s less desirable aspects, or facets, and how much I adore them. I don’t see His vengeance being a flaw, His wrath or anger and grief. Those are not flaws, but just parts of who He is. I would never call anyone who has an emotion other than kindness, innocence and happiness to possess flaws, let alone a deity.
The reason these facets of Him are less desirable is because people like to know Him as being a comfortable and warm deity that isn’t capable of hurting people, or putting us through hard challenges. Not everyone likes His strict side, or His vengeance and wrathful sides. And those parts of Him are not flaws, they do not weaken His personality or make Him imperfect. Even His undesirable aspects are perfect and I could never think or imply otherwise.
