so excited we finally signed up for a produce box and now we get to have a weekly delivery of local organic seasonal produce for only $15!! we’re gonna save a fuckton on groceries cause that is what almost all our grocery money goes to! i highly encourage you to check out the local csa boxes in your area if you have the option, they support your local farmers + often work to help food security in your area thru donating produce + offering highly reduced rates for those with food stamps its really dope! plus you get great produce for like 1/8 what you pay at the grocery store!

In the US, food travels an average of 1500 miles from farm to plate. Sometimes it’s even further–my local grocery store stocks bell peppers that came all the way from Holland. They weren’t being touted as “luxury” peppers or anything; they were ordinary peppers that just so happened to come all the way from Europe to be eaten.

If your situation allows it, definitely look into local produce as an option!
