According to at least three surviving texts, the Norse god Thor is half Aesir (one race of gods) and half Jotunn (giant), by way of his father Odin and his mother Jörð, the giantess who personifies the Earth. He is emphatically identified as “Son of Jörð”, recognized explicitly by this half-Jotunn heritage.
