How long does someone have to be dead before it’s considered archeology instead of grave robbing?

as an archaeologist, i find this a veRY AWKWARD QUESTION

answer the question grave robber

Considering there are poc all over the world demanding that museums return artifacts that were stolen from Graves I think grave robber is an appropriate title

My archaeology professor during my first stint at university said he
considered most of his colleagues to be grave robbers because they
weren’t acting with the approval or consent of peoples who’s ancestors or ancestral societies were being dug up.

He told us grave robbers dig up bodies and
artifacts, catalogue and ship them off to museums for white
consumption. Archaeologists though, they work with traditional owners
and descendants to record and restore histories, with all finds being
treated with the proper respect and final say over what happens to them
being up to the traditional owners and descendants of the people who’s societies are being investigated.

I mean obviously that’s not the actual distinction, but it is an important and I feel accurate social one at least.

Well damn
