H E R M E S • messenger of the gods
Hermes is most well known for his wit and cunning. Through myths, including one where he steals Apollo’s cattle, he established himself as the trickster of the Greek pantheon. As messenger for the gods and god of boundaries and travelers, Hermes also acted as the mortals’ guide into the Underworld. He is usually depicted with winged sandals, a wide-brim hat or helmet, and a caduceus. Hermes’ Roman name is Mercury.
