My heart breaks every day for the countless injustices brought on by those in power. This betrayal cuts deep. I do not feel safe when that which I was raised to believe represents safety still stands corrupted. We should not feel disempowered by those we are told to trust.

I refuse to advocate for those responsible for the tragedies my heart cannot hold strong enough to list. I will not ignore the pain these abusers have imposed onto those less powerful. I will not empower them with my silence.

Shame on every single person who refuses to stand behind a victim.

Shame on every single person who can hold compassion for those abusing their power and go on to second guess the validity of those abused.

Shame on those who live with the privilege to choose where they stand that decide to ignore these issues altogether.

Shame on those who choose comfort over compassion.

The pain I experience confronting the reality of these tragedies will not drive me away from demanding that the corrupt be treated as such.
