White Roses, Red Teeth

thecarvingwitch:

I believe in claws, and if you do not have claws,
then I believe in knives.
I believe in keeping the hearth
and sitting at it sewing poppets with black thread.

I believe in pretty smiles with teeth that can rip throats
And bloody mouths wielding them if confronted
I believe in flowered crowns and rose dresses
but be advised of the blade in my garter

There is value in healing tonics and warm homemade pie
and poisons hidden in skirts that can easily make the pot
Let them be fooled by sweet rosy lips and big velvet eyes
that have the power to turn men into stone.

If I believe in the serpent and the blade and the bite of winter
So I must also believe in my own fangs and blades and furs.
