I am visiting my friend Brittney tonight and I’ve met her adorable puppy Nala. This puppy had the misfortune of being dumped in the Everglades at 10 weeks old. They believe she was attacked by a gator and she has had five surgeries in two months to repair all the damage. Five rounds of oral antibiotics and six injections later have done nothing to destroy the infection. They suspect a flesh eating bacteria now and more tests need to be done. Tonight while visiting she managed to rip open her uninjured hip and is headed to the emergency vet now. So far Brittney has spent over 7k in vet bills and her bank account is drained. Nala just coming out of surgery, again. This time the Elizabethan collar she was wearing rubbed at her skin so badly that it tore, and once at the vets it just kept tearing even as he was operating. The vet has said he’s never seen anything like this in the thirty years that he’s been practicing. They’ve sent off a biopsy in the hopes that it can explain why her skin is tearing like it is. This is the third surgery she’s undergone in the past two weeks and Brittney’s finances are taking a massive beating from it.
